On this premiere edition of the third season of Native Report, we’ll head to one of the largest lakes in the country for a miraculous story of recovery. See how the commercial fishermen of the Red Lake Nation cooperative gave up their income and way of life in order to save the walleye for future generations. Against all odds, their efforts worked, we’ll tell you how. Then we’ll bring you to the premiere of “Average Family” – the first play by an American Indian playwright at one of the world’s largest children’s theatres. And we’ll attend a growing American Indian Arts and Music festival in northern Minnesota which brings regional attention to Native American culture by featuring artists and musicians of both local and national renown. We’ll also hear from the elders and learn something new this week on Native Report.
