STANDING WITH MOTHER EARTH

DENNIS BANKS & ROBBY ROMERO

Los Angeles, CA: On the eve of Mother Earth Day UCLA American Indian Studies Center presents “Standing With Mother Earth” with Dennis Banks and Robby Romero. Special guests include Raye Zaragoza (singer songwriter) with opening blessings by Tongva elder, Gloria Arellanes.  

The event is open to the public and will be held at UCLA Haines Auditorium A18 on Friday, April 21, 2017, 5-7pm.

On April 22, 2009, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed April 22 International Mother Earth Day. Bolivia’s Indigenous President Evo Morales Ayma commended members of the world body who had “taken a historic stand for Mother Earth”.

Apr 15, 2017 DENNIS BANKS 80th BIRTHDAY ROAST

Leech Lake Reservation: On April 15, 2017, family and friends came together to roast Dennis Banks at The Dennis Banks 80th Birthday Roast.  Mark Banks, Dennis’ elder brother and Master of Ceremonies said about Dennis, “To be a pipe carrier you have to be true to the cause, true to your people and Dennis is that way.”

The party was held at Northern Lights Hotel & Casino and included dinner, a screening of “A Good Day To Die” (A documentary film about the life of American Indian Movement Leader Dennis Banks) with performances by Robby Romero and Mitch Walking Elk and a presentation from The Longest Walk 5, a spiritual walk and run founded by Dennis Banks.

Oceti Sakowin Camp, Standing Rock:  Native Children’s Survival is calling all friends and allies around the world to Rise with Standing Rock in prayer and action at the NATIVE NATIONS MARCH ON WASHINGTON March 10, 2017. 

“The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Indigenous grassroots leaders call on our allies across the United States and around the world to peacefully March on Washington DC. We ask that you rise in solidarity with the Indigenous peoples of the world whose rights protect Unci Maka (Grandmother Earth) for the future generations of all.” – SRST
